As promised, I have read and would like to tell you about the Simpleology program that I have been learning about. The program I downloaded was one of the simple*ology Electives: Blogging by Mark Joyner. It is in addition and in response to my previous post on Simpleology: The Simple Science of Getting What You Want .
The book wasn’t exceedingly long, but was very complete in the organization and ideas, subject matter and lessons in it. There were a total of 15 lessons in the 48 page book, and also audios as well to download if you so choose to. The subjects ran from the most basic “What is a Blog” to the final “The Next 15 Days” in which is a recap of all of the lessons done by checklist one day at a time.
Overall, I found it very informative and complete, descriptive enough for a beginner to grasp and challenging enough for an intermediate blogger to learn more about their niche blog. In the first chapter Mark discusses 3 different types of blogs; Personal, Organizational, and Business blogs.
He gives a brief explaination of writing tips, which is useful for beginning bloggers and then carries on to discover ways and strategies to attract traffic, ways to monetize a blog if you so choose, and finishes with why small business owners should have a blog.
I agree with most of the things he talks about in each chapter, one of the differences is the use of AdSense on a blog. The Blog$uccess platform of blogging does not necessarily endorse the use of AdSense for the reasons of simplicity and clarity, for organization and less noise on a blog. There are definitely other ways to monetize a blog and Mark explains several different aspects of methods of monetization for blogs.
One of the things I particularly liked about this ebook was the final written chapter, Lesson 14, where he talks about why small business owners should have a blog. And I’d like to summarize the contents of it because the purpose is very good to know. Not to ruin the grand finale or anything, but rather to explain the end results and purpose of blogging may be a good reason to start initially.
Mark says, small business owners actually NEED a blog and that blogging can do wonders for you due to the following reasons:
1. Blogs are powerful marketing tools. Communication is a very important part of service and marketing in general, so with a blog, you are able to communicate with your audience or customers.
Through blogs you can inform and keep updated information available to the general public at a much lower cost than normal advertisement methods. You can also list more personal aspects of the company and user friendly ideas to engage your audience.
2. Blogs allow you to share your company’s expertise. Blogs can hlep you make your mark in your industry. You are able to convince your readers that you are an expert and have valuable things to contribute.
3. Blogs build real community. A blog enables you to connect with people, meet potential customers and start a community. Blogs make it easier for people to comment and give their feedback on your products or services. This can help you improve your products so they are more in tune with what consumers really want.
4. Blogs can take the place of websites. Blogging is an affordable alternative to professionally designed websites. You no longer need to learn html or hire a web developer to establish a online presence. Your business blog can function as your compnay’s official webiste. Or you can have a blog in addition to a website, and blogs are an excellent way to drive traffic to your company site.
5. Blogs help build trust and credibility. When you blog, you are sharing your honest thoughts to the public. In this way, you gain the trust of your readers because you’re relating to them on a personal level. By putting a face on your business, you can become more credible to your customers.
I would recommend this ebook as a resource to anyone wanting to expand their marketing into new areas such as blogging, to small businesses as a good reference to the credibility of blogging, and to any new blogger that wants to be really good at blogging. This ebook does not leave out parts of the blogging experience and provides several choices to different niche markets so this is a resource that I recommend. Simpleology also has many other topics of study and courses to expand your marketing horizons and personal development plans. One new release is the Recession Proof Strategy Cash Map that is available with a larger course. There is also a forum available to ask questions and interact with Simpleology members.
